What is a Mod?
A Mod is a custom, modified watch (hence the name: Mod). Each watch is hand assembled by us.
Our watches begin with a genuine, Japanese movement. We take this movement, and complement it with our own custom-produced dials, hands, cases, and bracelets. The specific movement used is listed in the description for each of our products.
Somerville Watch Company is not affiliated with any other brands. We are an independent watchmaker, and each watch we sell includes a 1-year in-house warranty. Since these watches are custom-made by our company, they will not include a papers.
Why do you use custom parts?
The answer is simple: because there is simply no way to deliver the premium aesthetics and functionality that we strive for when using fully stock watches as a base for our mods.

What is the difference between a Mod and an OEM Seiko watch?
Somerville Watch Company is an independent watchmaking workshop based in Somerville, MA. Every watch we sell is hand-assembled by us, built from genuine Japanese movements combined with custom-produced components - crafted to deliver an aesthetic you simply won't find off the shelf from an OEM manufacturer like Seiko.
Each of our Mods is a custom creation, carefully inspected and tested before it leaves our hands. We don't cut corners, and we don't dropship. What you get is a watch built for you, backed by our 1-year in-house warranty.
Where are you located, and do you have a physical location?
As our name implies, we are located in Somerville, Massachusetts.
We are an e-commerce only business, with no plans for opening a physical location.
For logistical reasons, we are unable to offer local pick-up from our workshop. We do however offer free shipping to all customers, regardless of their location.
How fast will my watch arrive?
For the most accurate delivery estimates and pricing, add an item to your cart and enter your mailing address at checkout. The checkout page will then populate with real-time pricing and delivery estimates provided by our delivery partners.
Shipments within the U.S. are FREE and arrive within 2-5 business days, depending on your location and distance from Somerville, MA.
What is your return policy?
Returns and exchanges for orders placed and shipped to the United States are accepted within 14 days of the delivery date of your watch and/or accessories, as long as the watch is in new, unwrapped, unworn condition, and has not been tampered with in any way. In particular, no refunds are possible when the plastic seals have been removed from the bracelet, as this indicates wear. Restocking fees apply. I rarely leave reviews unless an experience is either exceptionally bad or truly exceptional. In this case, it was absolutely exceptional.
From start to finish, the entire purchasing experience exceeded my expectations, and the watch itself is stunning. The quality, fit, and overall construction are flawless. The finishing on the case and bracelet is excellent, the dial has an incredible sunburst effect, and everything feels far more premium than I expected.
One pleasant surprise was the exhibition case back. I somehow overlooked that feature when ordering, so getting to admire the automatic movement was a great bonus. I also appreciated that the watch came with its own quality bracelet adjustment tool.
What has impressed me the most, though, is the reaction from other people. This watch has received more compliments than any other watch I’ve ever owned. Most people initially think it’s a Rolex, but when I explain what it actually is and how it works, it always turns into a great conversation. I actually enjoy telling people the story behind it.
The watch is comfortable, keeps excellent time, and honestly hasn’t left my wrist since it arrived.
I was so impressed that I’ve already ordered two more watches from Somerville Watches, and I already know I’ll be back for more. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. The watch arrived quickly and was packaged well, and honestly it looks even better in person than it did in the photos. I couldn't be happier with my Somerville Day-Date. SWC has really knocked it out of the park. The finish is outstanding, with a beautiful high-polish shine that looks far more expensive than it is. The bracelet feels solid and comfortable. One feature I really appreciated is that the bracelet uses screw-down links, which I personally prefer over the traditional pin-and-collar system because they're much easier to size.
The watch also arrived in a nice green leather pouch, which was a classy touch. It feels incredibly well made and actually weighs more than my Seiko Presage. I love that it uses a genuine Miyota 8285 automatic movement; it has been keeping excellent time. The sapphire crystal gives it a premium feel, and the attention to detail, from the fluted bezel to the day and date display, really stands out. The dial is especially impressive, with perfectly aligned Roman numerals and day and date windows that are centered beautifully.
If you're looking for a classic, luxury-inspired watch that offers incredible value for the money, I highly recommend Somerville. I honestly enjoy wearing this piece even more than my Presage, and I'll definitely be purchasing from them again.

The hands were loose, kept falling back to yen 6 o’clock position could not set them. The date and day would not set.got so pissed off at I thru the dam watch away. Went back to the mod watch site to order future watches.

The watch loses a few seconds each day. Amount is minimal. Also, this is not a SEIKO mechanism, but 0ne made by Casio (I believe). Maaker claims that this is the best mechanism for day/date models. Follow-up excellent. Could use more documentation included with watch (EG how to best adjust bracelet, manual winding to get watch started)

This was the second watch I purchased from Somerville. The first was a Rose Gold Daytona and I am honestly not sure which one I love more! Both are great statement pieces and my wife loves them as well, which is a nice perk! Hopefully she lets me buy some more 🤣

The face of this watch is amazing. Got a lot of compliments. However the build quality is quite cheap. The bracelet doesn't clasp on properly. For $300 you'd expect better quality. Would not buy again.
